Camo Craze

I've been a bit obsessed with camouflage  print recently, especially with the build up to many festivals over the summer.

So I am a bit obsessed with my latest camouflage nails.
These super long blue camo nails were inspired by a a pair of blue camo jeans I saw in a magazine.

I love how crazy long they are and that the camo also looks a bit cloud like.
I can imagine these on Rihanna or they would be perfect for a extravagant festival look.

Then I wanted to experiment with this fluro orange 'Hobart Place' by Nails Inc polish I've had for a few weeks and teamed it with some forest greens I had.

They are quite bold nails and would look great with a pair of ripped denim shorts and a khaki military jacket and some military boots.

So if you are going to Glasto and would like to buy some hot nails, email me at chunails@hotmail.co.uk

Ten Tiny Tuxedos

On Saturday I attending a cabaret and burlesque event for a friend's birthday, where the guests are requested to attend in suitable attire reflecting the era of the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

I chose to dress up in 1920s androgyny in a tuxedo, mini top hat and a little bow tie so naturally my nails had to also rise to the occasion.
So I painted mini tuxedos onto my nails including an accent on my ring fingers to match my burgundy bow tie.

As I was wearing long false nails I also painted the underneath of the nails a pillar box red to match my lipstick and to finish off the look.

Here's a picture of my friends and I dressed up for the occasion.

Kate Spade New York Nails!

I love the Kate Spade New York Spring Summer collection, which debuted in New York last September, bursting with popping colour, cutesy gingham prints and retro accessories.

What drew my attention to the collection was the pretty gingham nail art by Deborah Lippmann which mirrored the cute gingham prints of the collection.
I loved the retro feel and the fun and frivolity that the whole collection seemed to exude and I wanted to capture this in my nail art designs.

Pictures from the fabguide.com

However instead of copying Deborah's nail art I decided to draw inspiration from the collection, referencing the prints and the accessories in my nail art from some of the key looks of the collection.

Looks 6, 22, 14,  11, 10 and 7. Images from Style.com
I loved the details of the accessories such as the 'Taxi' little tag and the 'Pop' Ipad case which I translated into the details of my nail art.

It was so much fun creating this nail set and I feel that I captured the feel of the Kate Spade New York Spring Summer collection.

My favourite nail designs include the Taxi speech bubble, the yellow daisy print and the retro sunglasses.

I hope you enjoyed looking at them too.

Nail Inspiration #2 Topshop Spring Lookbook

Ever on the look-out for nail inspiration I came across the Topshop Spring Crush Lookbook Video bursting full of juicy spring colour and nail inspiration a plenty.

From cobalt blue and monochrome to safari prints and punchy pop art the new Topshop collection is looking fantastic and I love the Spring lookbook video that is featuring on the Topshop website, including some pretty cool nail art on the models.

The collections have yet to be released on the website but I already love the Safari collection including green giraffe print jumpers and iKat-print shorts and jackets.

The East West Fusion Collection is equally as inspiring with embellished bombers and beautiful silk ombre printed shirts.

I can't wait until these looks are released, until then I will be adorning my fingers inspired by some of the prints from the new collection.

Check out also the new Topshop Boutique shoot taken in London's China Town which I can't get enough of having spent alot of time hanging out and eating in China Town.

AW13 Fashion Week Nails

Its fashion week madness in London at the moment and I cant help but get swept up in the excitement of the Autumn Winter 2013 shows.

So Ive complied my top nail art designs from the catwalks that I will be trying out later this year.

Jean Pierre Braganza showcased geometric nails to match the collection created by the Essie team using Essie 'Go Overboard' as the green nail colour and a geometric ring finger design.

Vivienne Westwood collaborated with Nail Rock and called in designer Zoe Pocock to create an ombre berry shades, purposefully painting onto the fingers to give the effect that a child hand applied the nail polish - which matched the model's bold runway make - up.

Burberry kept things simple with beautiful berry hues - creating a sophisticated look to complement the simplicity of the iconic Burberry Trench.

At Kate Spade New York nails were punchy painted in either pink or black with a single gold stud. Simple but powerful.

Whereas at House of Holland nails were painted with a beautiful tortoiseshell design by luxury nail artist Sophy Robson using Leighton Denny polishes. I'm looking forward to trying this design.

Tweet me your Fashion Week nail designs @chunails - I'd love to see them.

Daisy Delight

Spring is coming and I wanted to create a nail design that was a little bit light hearted.

Keeping the background colour a muted grey (OPI French Quarter) I let the pretty daisies stand out.

This design is so easy and was one of the first designs I tried when I started out. All you need is a little bit of patience and a steady hand.

I'm seeing Spots and Stripes

Polka Dot, Stripes an Monochrome are going to be big in spring summer 2013 with the SS13 catwalks flooded with black & white and bold pattern.

Marc Jacobs, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana

Marc Jacobs, Moschino and Dolce and Gabbana all showcased monochrome stripes during SS13 fashion week setting the tone for the season. Whereas the highstreet is sporting black and white spots as well as stripes as seen at Zara below.

I love the simplicity of this trend and it translates so easily into a nail design that anyone can recreate.

To create these nails I painted white stripes over black nails with a striper pen. Then using a dotting tool I dotted black spots onto white nails and finished with topcoat once they were dry.

Simple yet effective.

Nail Inspiration #1 : Louis Vuitton SS13

Marc Jacobs is a genius. I loved his Louis Vuitton SS13 show full of graphic checks and popping colour. Showcased at Paris Fashion Week in October his sixties-esque minimalist show for Louis Vuitton was fresh and exciting and I think the bold checks will translate into a hot set of finger art for summer. I'll be working on a set using the bright sunshine shade for this summer. I'll also be working on securing the sunshine yellow checked bag from the collection to go with said nails.....

Nude Leopard and Gold Stud Nails

What do you think of my nude leopard nails? As you can see I also received some gold studs recently, which I purchased from eBay. I love that they look fierce in an understated way due to the subtle nude shade. The flat back gold studs are easy to apply. Just simply drop onto the nail when the second coat of colour is just getting tacky and finish with a few coats of top coat to secure. I used Nails Inc 'Basil Street' for the nude and OPI 'A-Taupe the Space Needle' for the leopard spots. Tell me what you think in the comments below - I'd love to hear from you. xx

Nude and Red nails - V Shape

I love the combination of red and nude together, I think it makes a sophisticated high class colour combo and makes a difference to just plain polished red. I used Nails Inc Basil Street (nude) and Victoria and Albert (red). This design was easy to do if you have a steady hand and some patience. I'm also currently using this Sally Hansen Insta-Dry topcoat which I used on these nails.
It drys in 30 seconds and the brush is long making it super easy to apply. The finish is a high shine that really lasts. I'm impressed for the price, £4.99 at Superdrug.
